Listener Limerick Challenge

In just a minute, we meet up with Carl Kasell on his tour of Bingen am Rhyme!

I'm beginning to think I need to suck it up and learn Photoshop.

There’s allegedly a magic three-month mark
When you’re no longer linguistically in the dark.
I’ve been here three months to the day*
But still all I can say
Is I think that claim is a lark**. ***

*Okay, not quite three months.  The things I’ll do for an aabba rhyme scheme.

**Okay, my language skills are improving, it’s just more of a painful lurching process, rather than a graceful transition from one language to the next.  The things I’ll do for a punchline.

***Sorry, there’s no listener challenge either.  The things I’ll do for an NPR reference.

  1. Hahaha, I instinctively read that in Carl Kassell’s voice as opposed to yours.

In all seriousness, I’m sure you’ve improved much more than you think! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re able to craft together a holiday feast!

    • Then my work here is done. 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I’m sure there will be a post in the near future about how we fandangled a Thanksgiving dinner in the absence of jellied cranberry sauce. We need to chat soon!

  2. Lori, I was really looking forward to a challenge. I think you should pose one anyway.

    • Sorry, here, have your own limerick:

      Monica, Monica, Monica, Monica
At least once before I rhymed it with gin and tonic-a.
      Your name is a pain
      When poetry’s the game
But it’s cool that it rhymes with _________.

  3. Darn. I really wanted Carl Kassell’s voice on my home answering machine.

  4. With Kerry on this one. Definitely read it with Carl’s voice instead of yours… Nice!
